El Formulario 1040A del IRS (Servicio de Rentas Internas) es uno de los tres formularios que puedes utilizar para presentar tu declaración de impuestos federales sobre la renta. El Formulario 1040A es una versión más corta que el más detallado Formulario 1040, pero es más compleja que el Formulario 1040EZ simple. En la preparación del Formulario 1040A, deberás anotar tus exenciones y elegir tu estado civil como declarante y exenciones antes de empezar a informar sobre cualquier ingreso. Cada estado civil del declarante, tal como "soltero" o "casado declarando conjuntamente", utiliza diferentes rangos de impuestos para el cálculo de tus impuestos sobre la renta.

Los temas específicos incluyen sueldos, salarios y propinas, intereses y dividendos, ganancias de capital, IRA, distribución de pensiones y rentas vitalicias, compensación por desempleo, dividendos del Fondo Permanente de Alaska y los beneficios del Seguro Social. Si tienes otro tipo de recursos, como por ejemplo de un negocio que opere como una empresa unipersonal, aún tienes que informar el ingreso, ya que estás sujeto a impuestos, pero tienes que presentar el formulario 1040 largo o de cuerpo entero.
