How do I apply?

If you’re expecting a federal refund while filing your taxes with TurboTax, you will have the opportunity to apply for Refund Advance at the time you choose your refund method.

How do I access my Refund Advance?

You will need to apply and be approved for the Refund Advance and open a checking account with Credit Karma Money. Once you open your checking account and are approved for Refund Advance, you could get your Refund Advance deposited into your checking account within 1 hour from IRS E-file acceptance of your return¹. You may access your funds online through a virtual card and your physical Credit Karma Visa® Debit Card should arrive in 7-14 days.

What happens with the rest of my refund after I get my Refund Advance?

When the IRS or state tax authorities distribute your refund, your remaining refund amount (minus your Refund Advance amount from your federal refund and any other TurboTax fees) will be deposited into your checking account with Credit Karma Money.

How is the loan paid back?

When the IRS processes your federal refund, your Refund Advance loan is automatically paid back. You won’t have to do anything!

How is my Refund Advance amount determined?

Your approved amount is based on the size of your federal refund (excluding any Recovery Rebate Credit) and your tax information, along with other factors. You may not receive the maximum Refund Advance amount if one of these factors doesn’t meet the qualifying standards of the lender.

Where can I spend my Refund Advance?

Once you’re approved for Refund Advance and your funds have been deposited in your checking account with Credit Karma Money, you can start spending right away using your virtual card or mobile wallet where Visa® is accepted.

When your physical debit card arrives in the mail, you’ll need to activate it and can spend the money at any store Visa® is accepted.

Who’s the third party lender?

The third-party lender is First Century Bank, N.A., Member FDIC. With your consent, we will share your tax return information with First Century Bank, N.A., Member FDIC and its subsidiaries via SSL-encrypted transmission. They'll review your info to see if you qualify for the Refund Advance. Also, we will share the information that identifies you (i.e. your name, address, date of birth, SSN) with MVB Bank, Inc. when you open a checking account with Credit Karma Money.

What happens after I qualify for the Refund Advance?

If you qualify, you will be notified by email. The remainder of your refund (minus the Refund Advance amount and any TurboTax fees) will be loaded into your checking account with Credit Karma Money™ when the IRS or state tax authorities distributes your refund (typically within 21 days from IRS acceptance).

What if I don’t qualify for the Refund Advance?

If you don’t qualify after filing your
return, you'll still receive your refund in your checking account with Credit
Karma Money.

Your entire federal and state refunds (minus any TurboTax fees) will be loaded into the account as soon as the IRS or state tax authorities distributes your refund (typically within 21 days from
IRS acceptance).
