Over hundred dollars to efile free federal return
Every year the money to efile federal return (Texas has no state return) keeps going up and the lowest option I saw this year was over hundred dollars to efile return for income less than $45K

WORST EXPERIENCE I'VE HAD WITH TURBOTAX
It kept kicking me out when I was in the middle of entering information. I was asked so many things that I was not asked in previous years, why can't I just say "none of these apply" when looking at state returns?? These issues caused my return to be late filed AND not able to E-file state taxes. I'm not happy AT ALL with turbotax this year. I'll take it to a pro next year.

Turbo Tax is great but...
It was great having access to live assistance however, it took multiple tries to get answers and not all knew how to help. Eventually, I ended revising my answers and completing return although I wasn't sure. Not sure why I ended up paying for help that wasn't that helpful.

TurboTax saved the day
Tried TurboTax and Tax Slayer. The latter failed me. But TurboTax saved the (my) day, yay! Like the simple and intuitive interface. The bright colors and encouragement along the way helped me keep going. Also was nice to be thanked by TurboTax in the PDF. Thank You for the help TurboTax.

Turbo Tax Review
Every year each version of Turbo Tax improves considerably. There was some minor things I wasn't sure of, but it worked out with some reading it over via the side bars.

Really does get better every year.
What I like most about TurboTax is that you can really tell that they try to make incremental improvements to the User Experience every year. The designers are very good at anticipating questions that a user would have and answering them right there at the spot your eye is already drawn to. I would subtract a half-star for the following several shortcomings that get irritating: They keep making you log into your Intuit Account (at least 4 times in my case) even though you already logged in, and the Remember Me button is ignored, and they will not use the keychain info you have already stored for their site, so you have to go find your password in the keychain and keep pasting it in over and over again (becuase it's a strong password, right?). Additionally, the payment info is not saved even in your current working session, so you have to keep re-answering the same questions about USPS address standardization, and you have to keep re-entering the CVV code. Should be totally unnecessary. As you are e-filing (I have to do federal plus 2 US states), I think I had to re-enter the bank account and routing number at least 5 times each. And exactly the same numbers I have been using for years including my prior return. Why don't these default to the numbers already entered? Finally, it is archaic to be charged extra for e-filing (again, I have 2 states), when we are already paying for the software itself, and extra again for the extra state software. It is at best a misleading business practice to say you're going to charge $25 for the extra state, and then also charge another fee to e-file that state. For a user who is already e-filing federal + 1 state, surely the cost of that additional state is negligible and can be folded into the cost of purchasing the extra state software.
