Rated 1 out of 5 by from POOR EXPERIENCE WITH TURBO TAX Have used Turbo Tax since the 1990's so I'm a long time customer. The price went up $30 over last year, WHY??. A family member sent me a link to Turbo Tax that claimed I would be able to save 20%. However the link did not work as expected. We are seniors on fixed incomes and have to stretch every dollar. The program did not take in to account that we lived in Florida all of 2022 except for 2 days when we moved to another state. It also incorrectly calculated that we owed capital gains on the house when our actual Capital Gains were only one-tenth the Federal exemption of $500,000 after having met all the requirements. The method for reporting the sale of our house, I believe was misleading and confusing. It would have easier to deny that we sold a house, however in the interest of being transparent we opted to declare. I think that this company should give seniors a break in pricing. I don't think we will ever use Turbo Tax again as it has truly been a poor experience.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from TurboTax is by far... best tax software out there. Used TurboTax for past 20 years plus, with the occasional diversion into some other software only to come quickly back, and watched it improve greatly over those years. Of course, even in the best software, there is always room for improvement, like being able to easily come back to the exact place you are at (for example after accidentally hitting the wrong tab when clicking on the open window from another application) without having to reload the last saved file. Also would like to be able to quickly be able to see exactly where TT gets it's conclusions (for example, that I have foriegn investments I was totally unaware I had, after importing my investor company's 1099-DIV data. Never did figure that out, just ended up taking TTs word for it, which I'm confident is good.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Decent enough, still cheaper than most preparers. TurboTax is decent tax prep software. It has some limitations on e-filing that don't make sense. For example, TurboTax might auto-fill a non-calculation field incorrectly, and if you correct it, TurboTax won't let you e-file. Also, TurboTax can miss some tax savings opportunities. For example, why not continue to carry forward an investment interest deduction when using it generates no tax benefit? (TurboTax lets you use it so you won't have it in the future when it might be helpful.)
