Rated 1 out of 5 by from By far the worst experience I've had with TurboTax Married filing joint return (so same 1099-R payer to each of us for some accounts). 1. Said yes to TT dealing directly with our payer for tax info, but payer only recognized one of us in providing 1099. 2. Things went reasonably well, until final review before filing, when several questions arose on 1099s, asking for info. I'd already provided. As I re-provided the info. for each 1099 in question, I noticed my expected tax payment jumped up. I clicked on the "chat" icon to raise my concern, and it was soon obvious that the chat entity was a robot that couldn't understand the problem. It recommended talking to a person. I found the support number for a person and was connected to someone who had trouble with English. Moreover, the connection wasn't good, so it eventually became clear that this conversation would be long and perhaps eventually a referral to someone who knew more. 3. I chose to look back at my Federal return and discovered that some of my 2019 1099s had been included as a result of the final review (ergo the large bumps in expected taxes). As I recall, some of the 1099s were shown connected with the wrong person. I tossed all the erroneous entries and began on those 1099s still to be accounted for. I again said yes to TT dealing directly with my payer, and was getting payer address info. that didn't match my printed 1099s, so I fell back to entering the info. manually from the 1099s in hand. That worked, and the rest of the process appeared to go without incident. I'm tentatively confident that my Federal & State taxes were filed, and Feds paid, correctly, but this was a process that was dramatically different from all other years. The automated chat and in-person support processes weren't helpful (in-person support was especially frustrating, principally due to the lack of English skills on the part of the representative.
