Rated 4 out of 5 by from Love turbotax but not a fan of the fees I always have a great, easy experience with Turbotax. The platform is straightforward and has a lot of helpful tools. My only real complaint is the numerous fees that tend to get added on at the end of filing. When you choose your program at the start, you expect that to be your cost. Filing as self-employed cost you a minimum of $90 (this is if you file early, the rate later goes up to $120) and then you get slapped with another $40 to file your state taxes and an additional $40 if you decide to use your refund to pay your bill. I understand the fees to a point, just wish I had the heads up rather than getting them added right at the end.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Simplified Taxes Was worried when i was told that the state rejected my claim but it ended up being a software update. Very helpful i didnt have to figure that out myself.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Nightmarish Experience Didn't import last year's taxes like it used to. Questions were not nearly as clear as last year. Didn't even ask for my SSA-1099, has to keep looking around until it randomly popped up (thank goodness, no idea where it even was). Worst of all, forced me to sign/commit to using them upfront, without finding out later on that they only allow payment through auto-deduction from my return...which of course they charge $40 for. Total joke! They also have a part where they ask you to upgrade, after previously telling you that I had to upgrade because of my HSA. I almost selected that as if it were the same upgrade only to find out it was an additional one...always trying to make extra money off of me. I will NEVER use TurboTax again!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from I won't be using turbotax again next year I had completed the federal return, and moved onto the state. About halfway through the state return I realized my federal return number suddenly went up by $1500. I went back and reviewed, and the software had changed my spouses W-2 and put it under my name and social security. It also changed all the bank account interest information around. I had to go back and fix everything, and again then it actually removed a W-2. I went through it 4 times, and again just before filing to make sure it was correct. Then Turbotax (not the state of California) rejected my state review due to an "update to their software" which may have added more deductions. It did not, but I had to go back through the process of filing again. Awful software, and I will be looking elsewhere next year for something more straightforward. Oh, one final thing. The first time I tried to post a review (before I had to file for the second time with this process) it stated it could not post a one-star review because it "detected" add blocking. This software is a joke.
