Rated 4 out of 5 by from I love your programs. BUT Your products are great and easy to use from year to year. However, I have to use a family member's PC in order to do the business taxes. I really HATE pc products. Please make it mac friendly. Thanks

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Turbortax - a great product with a few glitches. I have been using Turbo Tax for about 12 years now, and am impressed with its structure and abundance of helpful tips and explanations of different tax issues. In recent years, it seems to have acquired some annoying hang ups that I find have cost me a lot of time and effort to work around. While I would not want to detract from the many good features and quality of avoiding common mistakes and misunderstandings regarding intricate tax issues, I would like to mention a couple that have caused me a lot of grief this year. 1. There program seems to be lacking a way of reviewing the actual numbers filled into the various forms which constitute the tax return set during the final stages of review. This is something that I think was there in prior editions, but seem to have been lost in the current year or two -- a way of reviewing the different forms or pages before you get to the final filing screens and analysis of the results. I usually have some question as to whether the input I am giving on certain topical pages, especially where boxes are checked to flag situations that effect the way the final values are calculated or which features are enabled or disabled based on different tax circumstances. I had to go ahead and check a box (which I was unsure of) only to get all the way to the final review and realize that a whole section of computations or form were missing because I checked (or did not check) a box that was not valid for me. A simple explanation of how these situation boxes effects the overall tax calculation would be greatly appreciated. 2. (Virginia State tax computation only). I have been burned in past years, by the fact that Virginia charges a fee of $25 extra (+ plus another $40 in some cases) to file electronically over filing paper copies by mail. While this seems totally illogical since the filing of paper documents by mail is much more labor intensive and inefficient than filing electronically, I was delighted to see no mention of it, even after searching for most of an hour to find it, due to my experience from years past. I went ahead and filed Virginia State form electronically only to find when I got to the account statement for the cost of filing where the $25 fee gremlin suddenly appeared after I thought I was all done with the filing process appeared again. Since I particularly spent a great deal of time and effort to determine that this illogical process had hopefully had been rectified, I was greatly disgusted by its sudden appearance without warning. I know this is a Virginia tax tradition problem (which Turbo Tax has little control over), but the warning that we used to get about its consequent appearance seems to have been totally lacking this year. I would like to add in closing that I have had a very good experience with the Tax Audit optional service provided with Turbo tax. My Turbo tax filing for 2017 was audited a year or so ago, and except for the necessary gathering of extra data required by the IRS audit people, the process went very smoothly. I highly recommend this audit service to those using Turbo Tax and feel it is very much worth the nominal fee charged.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Came back to TurboTax after 3 year hiatus... Given that federal and state tax preparation is absolutely overly-complicated, TurboTax minimized the pain and financial cost. Very pleased...
