For the last decade I had a tax accountant do my returns because my return is not straightforward. This year my tax accountant retired so I thought I would try TurboTax again. To my surprise, it was very simple. It took me about 2.5 hours to do the return. The savings and the ease of doing it just makes TurboTax and obvious choice. I'm glad my accountant retired!

If you have a simple tax return, you can file for free yourself with TurboTax Free Edition, or you can file with TurboTax Live Assisted Basic or TurboTax Live Full Service Basic at the listed price.

A simple tax return is one that's filed using IRS Form 1040 only, without having to attach any forms or schedules. Only certain taxpayers are eligible.
