I was unable to transfer any information via the program from my financial institution to the form. I don't remember how much I paid last year but $129 seems excessive. When I first started using turbotax, I felt very confident of my input.... Not so in the past several years. My financial situation is not such that would require paying for experts If the program took you step-by-step in a clear and concise manner.

If you have a simple tax return, you can file for free yourself with TurboTax Free Edition, or you can file with TurboTax Live Assisted Basic or TurboTax Live Full Service Basic at the listed price.

A simple tax return is one that's filed using IRS Form 1040 only, without having to attach any forms or schedules. Only certain taxpayers are eligible.
