For some reason, with my state tax return, it kept filling out a credit for circuit breakers which i do not qualify for since i rent. It did prompt me to delete the credit but never actually did. Therefore added $1200 to my refund. I owed no tax and do not qualify for refund since I'm retired. The only way to way end with 0 tax owed/0 refund was to not list my apartment rent expense. I suppose in the final analysis it's no big deal except for the time I wasted trying to redo my state return over and over.

A simple tax return is one that's filed using IRS Form 1040 only, without having to attach any forms or schedules. Only certain taxpayers are eligible.
