This year, the program would not complete a required download that was required in order to file. After an hour with a rep and completing the download, the program would not recognize my state returns, telling me that I needed to purchase them (Error Code 190). After another hour with another rep, she could not help with this. I then searched in TT and finally I found a fix under the phrase (approximately) 'state efile update loop'. You will need to scroll down. The first fix failed but the second finally worked. Two hours of lost time - VERY frustrating.

A simple tax return is one that's filed using IRS Form 1040 only, without having to attach any forms or schedules. Only certain taxpayers are eligible.
