I hated being forced to do all of the verifications for the Intuit login twice. I just wanted to skip that process! It cost me $25 plus credit card handling fees to file a $0 california tax return. As a very long term user of TurboTax, next year I will just use some other way to do my taxes, and in particular a free california filing app.

I feel like I'm able to upload everything I need to, and I don't usually feel like I'm missing anything big. I don't have too complicated of taxes, single, no children, don't own a home or business. Apart from having a real tax expert help you, TurboTax is great. The only thing that bothers me is I feel like the will add on extra fee's in a VERY confusing way. I'm always questioning how I got so many different additional fees by the end of my filing.

A simple tax return is one that's filed using IRS Form 1040 only, without having to attach any forms or schedules. Only certain taxpayers are eligible.
