Rated 2 out of 5 by from Good product, but it should not be necessary Turbotax tries to sell "upgrade" packages several times throughout the filing process. It is a for-profit service seeking to exploit the necessity of tax filing to rake in profits from those who have no other alternative. To which one may argue "...but filing taxes is so complex! Turbotax makes it easier." Such a take is superficially correct, but fundamentally nearsighted. Our tax system is so complex to navigate due in part to lobbying efforts by companies offering tax preparation services (inlcuding of course, Intuit!) In most developed countries, filing taxes is a breeze. The government tracks financial information throughout the year, citizens confirm the number, and it's done. There is no reason why the US, with one of the world's highest GDPs, should not have a similar system. If Intuit truly wanted to make tax filing easier for us, the company would spend it's lobbying money on getting the governement to make taxes easier, rather than creating and advertising a system like Turbotax which gradually pushes each user from "free," to "standard," to "premium," to "max." Tax preparation and filing should be an interaction solely between the taxpayer and their government, with no third parties involved. The system itself is well-designed, and easy to use. Good job on the web development. My one qualm about the interface itself is that I find it condescending. The racetrack timer, the amorphous smiling figures, and the childish loading screens read as somewhat insulting to the intelligence of the user. I will continue using turbotax for as long as our federal and state tax rules necessitate aid from a preparer or a large amount of time and personal focus. Much like in the case of Wifi, healthcare, running water, electricity, heat, and shelter I will continue to pay for the service solely out of necessity. To Intuit: you built a good product, but it's purpose is the privatization of a fundamental necessity. Such things, in my opinion, should never be privatized. The work Turbotax does should be a government service.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Thanks Turbo Tax I was able to easily handle my tax return using Turbo Tax Deluxe, which includes self-employment business income, retirement income, investment income, and social security income. All went very well. No questions asked.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from TurboTax Easy to use I usually prepare my taxes using IntuitTurbotax because it is fast and convenient specially because I do electronic filing of both federal and state taxes. The only thing I wish was the cost yo use the software, price has been going up and now is a bit expensive.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from TurboTax is much more user Friendly to use! TurboTax is much more user Friendly to use this year! Last year the interface graphics were too busy and less intuitive. Made for making mistakes when entering data. This year the interface was clean, easy to understand and back up inof/explanations were identifiable and easy to access.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not user friendly Payment was very deceiving. Asked for a refund of the 119 due to that. I didn't choose the option though it still charged me. Took a long time to go through all of the steps to complete the taxes.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fast and Reliable Surprising how you could do your taxes with a certified tax accountant in a couple of hours or less if you have all the documents ready to go. I had a bit of a complex situation but the expert explained everything in details and was able to file my return the next day!
