Rated 2 out of 5 by from TurboTax Ongoing Review No one wants to do taxes. It's already a bad enough process in this country as is. TurboTax has features that make doing taxes easy. But Jesus Christ, you charge more and more every year while making it easier on yourself (and the tax payer of course) to upload tax documents. I am 30 years old filing with a standard deductible. I want to pay what I owe and be done with it. I don't want to jump through the hoops of TURBO MAX PRO SUPER DELUXE package. I don't know how you guys haven't been sued with all of your ads about being free. Saving grace was the lovely customer service rep I had, Alysa.

This improvement every year makes me want to continue to return to do my taxes. This year, especially after adding a side job prove to me that I am in good hands.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Serious Error--Glad I know the tax code well. I sold a house last year, which I had owned for 14 years. For all 14 of those years that house was my only residence. The capital gain from selling it was about $160,000. TurboTax claimed that I owed federal capital gains tax on this sale. That's WRONG! I had to work around this issue. The IRS makes it very clear that if you've owned a house at least two years, and lived in it as your primary residence for at least two years, then the home sale capital gain exclusion applies. That capital gain exclusion is substantially more than my $160,000 gain.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Turbotax is terrible Too many issues: e.g. offers to automatically import documents but fails, asks for questions that are not availble in my tax documents, makes me repeat the same steps over and over, unnecessary pictures and animations that don't lighten my mood at all, etc.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Disappointing Omission Most of the wizard was straightforward and easy to use. Filing in multiple states very helpful. However, there was a side FAQ about using Form 8453 when filing electronically. The guidance never returned in the final filing sequence to explain how to do that.
