Rated 2 out of 5 by from Helpful but Too Expensive I appreciate the product that Turbo Tax offers, however, it is seems very expensive. In the past, there was a free option. I now am forced to use the premium version. Also, when I initially picked to pay for the premium option via my refund, they charged an extra fee of $39. That is outrageous. I am a teacher barely getting by. It's even worse when you consider the whole reason products like Turbo Tax exist is because lobbyists keep us from having the IRS do our taxes even though they all the information. It's very frustrating and disheartening.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Turbotax is the best! I have used Turbotax Premier software perennially and really rely on it for the best income tax refund. However, the one complaint that I have is that it should be made more clearer upfront that there is a $25 refund fee for processing the state return and also a $40 fee for processing the Federal return. I realize that this processing fee is imposed by a third party, but it definitely reduces my overall enthusiasm of using the program.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Why doesn't deluxe download include free state I purchased Turbo Tax CDs for many years. Having retired, I thought that a free online download may suit my purposes this year. However, I was forced to upgrade to Deluxe during the process. I was shocked to learn upon completion that I would be charged for both my federal and state returns. The CD always offered me one free state filing. I had to delete everything that I did and go to the store to buy the CD in order to redo my taxes and avoid paying for filing in the one and only state within which I reside.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good product but expensive It's a complete rip-off that we have to pay to file our taxes. Over $250 for a $1000 refund plus a state filing fee of $59 which takes the entire refund. In other countries this is free and the government already knows what you owe/are refunded.
