Rated 3 out of 5 by Kolob from TurboTax is a bear to use I thought this was free tax filing. i didn't know until the end that there was an $89 charge.

Rated 3 out of 5 by qromodyn from miserable enter employee stock plan stuff The main reason I use Turbo Tax is that it can enter data from last year's forms. I am really not impressed with the way it deals with ESPP, NQSO, RSU data entry. You should be able to take a photo of your 1099 forms and have it do the rest. It's really a nightmare and buggy. I requires stupid things like entering a "short term sale date" for items that weren't even sold as short term items. When you try getting help (like "where do I enter 1099-B forms"), you are forced to watch an insipid video on YouTube.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Grizzled68 from Fairly good, but has been better I was disappointed in Turbotax this year. Unlike prior years, I encountered four major problems: [1] I was forced to key in information that should have propagated from last year's taxes on Turbotax. [2] Turbotax was generally unable to upload data from my bank or my investment firm [Wells Fargo Advisors] despite claiming it would so so. [3] On a few occasions, Turbotax offered neither helpful advice nor a complete selection of applicable options [e.g., some of our income was from tax-free municipal bonds issued by the City of Champaign, IL, but that choice was not listed, nor was there a "fill in the blank" choice to fill in and check]. [4] Turbotax frequently encountered processing problems and had to be told to "redo" or "return". Happily, your personal assistant was very helpful over the phone, and helped overcome some of the technical glitches. But frankly, it should not have been necessary to call in the first place.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Trassy from TurboTaxisawesome User friendly and I liked the way you verify information

Rated 1 out of 5 by State Error from Overall Great BUT ONE MAJOR ERROR!!!!! Everything was overall pretty good but there was one MAJOR issue. I imported the PDF of the W2 and it did not pull in my state tax information automatically. I did not catch it until it started calculating my State tax information. Could have cost me major cash if I did not catch it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Sasha Capitol from Extra help! Really appreciated the extra bit of support this year. Upped to Turbo Tax live and that helped me handle some unique circumstances

Rated 3 out of 5 by SDASJA from I guess it is to dumbed down for me. I get frustrated because I know where I need to go but Turbotax will not let me get there because I have not answered all of their questions. In some instances that is good, in others it is extremely annoying.

Rated 3 out of 5 by kdkdkdkd87 from Can result in over payment with form 1099B Overall it's a good experience. One issue is with form 1099B, my broker (etrade) doesn't set the cost basis for sell-to-cover sales or RSUs. If I didn't explicitly review it and set it I would have overpaid quite a bit. The system should prevent me from continuing if all my cost-basis is 0, it should be flagged.

Rated 4 out of 5 by FORDSforme from Stupid hoops All is good but they ask if an IRS provided pin #(identity theft) but don't provide a place to enter it when you say yes. Then your return gets rejected and you have to jump through stupid unnecessary hoops just to be able to provide the number that they should have asked for in the first place. It's almost enough to make you wanna pay a CPA instead.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Fly Fisherman John from Easy to Use TurboTax is easy to use. It helps if you do your homework ahead of time, such as using Quicken to categorize spending. I've used TurboTax for five straight years. I pay a fraction of what I used to pay a CPA to prepare my taxes.
