Rated 1 out of 5 by from TT Business is far below even TT Deluxe standards Used TT Business for handling my mother-in-law's estate after her death (to file form 1041 & create forms K-1 for each heir). I've used TT Deluxe and TT Premier for years with minor annoyances from time to time, but TT Business is far below these products' standards. So many forms are just listed by form number with a checkbox; you have to google to even find out if the form number applies to you because TT Business doesn't provide even a short description, let alone quick help tip pop-up windows, for many of them. It just says "check if these forms apply to you". Yeah. Thanks a lot. And what's with the lack of forms importing from banks and brokerage firms? That works beautifully in TT Deluxe & TT Premium, why doesn't it work for TT Business? You really expect me to type in all 400 lines of stock trades for the estate's Form 8949? So I check the box that says I'll just summarize the short term & long term gains & cost basis, and TT Business says "You're attaching a statement and have only summary entries for this account." It even enters the text "See attached stmt" on Form 8949, but does it ask me to scan in or attach a PDF like it does for form 8453-FE? No it does not. It just e-files my form 1041 and 8453-FE and makes me wait until the IRS contacts me and says my form 1041 indicates I've attached my financial institution's statement but yet I didn't attach it. Well, how could I, TT Business wouldn't allow me to attach it! TT Business doesn't even have an option (at least not that I could find) to attach any random document (e.g. a cover letter to explain an odd situation to the IRS). And if that wasn't enough, if you have multiple TT products installed, whichever you installed last is what fires up when you double-click in Windows on a .tax2022 file, and if you double-click on a .tax2022 file for TT Premier but installed TT Business last, it will give you errors on the file created by TT Premier. (Someone online said it even corrupted their file!) Seems like if Intuit had real programmers on staff, they'd be able to figure out how to make TT Business detect if it was opening a file created by TT Premier, and if so, auto-launch TT Premier and pass the name of that .tax2022 file to it as its first argument so you wouldn't have to manually load the file after manually starting TT Premier.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I love Turbo Tax (but easier support is needed)! I love the way TT walks me through all possible tax considerations so I don't inadvertently miss something. I feel more comfortable about correcting inputs on the forms page when needed. I recently had a problem with the product and TT wanted to upsell me to support for my return. It took TOO long to locate a phone number and get help - which eventually was resolved. This information was previously available on the Help tab in the product.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from TurboTax felt slimy this year I have used TurboTax loyally for about a decade and this might be the last year. I really felt uncomfortable with all the times TurboTax tried to trick me into switching to random uncharges or to consent to sending my data to sketchy other services. TurboTax used to be the best-in-class tax preparation tool. Now it feels almost adversarial where you are trying to get all the way through the process without accidentally leaking your data to Credit Karma. I wish I could turn all that stuff off and just get vanilla TurboTax back. Just ask me once at the beginning "Hey, is this just about taxes or do you want me to snoop on you to sell you personalized credit card offers?" and if I say "just taxes thanks" then please respect me.
