Hard to change mistakes
I had made a simple mistake. Some how I clicked something that needed and extra code. I did not mean to click the box and did not realized my mistake till the end. I tried to go back to change it and could not do it. It took me day's to try to figure it out. Eventually I had to clear my entire tax return in order to fix the problem. I have used turbo tax now for several years and never had a problem with changing a mistake.

Not very clear or helpful at times
A major reason I switched to TurboTax this year was to easily import my 1099 from Robinhood, however, it asked me to manually review pretty much all of the 60+ stock transactions I had one by one, so that kind of dulled out that perk. Beyond that, I was mostly pleased how quickly my federal return went. The state returns were not as smooth, though, probably due to the fact that I moved states and had to allocate income between the two, etc. Though TurboTax walked through the basics of that and some screens were clearer than others, I didn't find it particularly helpful with this. It asked a lot of vague questions like "how much X taxes did you pay this year", or "which of the following 20 deductions apply to you", without giving clear details about what qualifies or what tax documents you might reference. It was also pretty hard to navigate and see a summary of what you have, or how they calculated certain fields for you. Allocating income between 2 states, it is pretty necessary to jump between the 2 so things add up, but TurboTax kind of made that a nightmare and made me click through all the screens I already did every time I switched between states. Overall, I was expecting to get a robust and helpful software, but TurboTax was pretty disappointing there and not worth the hefty price. The UI is simple if you can just go through and answer every question in one sitting, but if I'm filing my own taxes, I want to see a rough draft of what I'm filling in and how my answers affect my return. I don't like TurboTax abstracting away what I'm filling in and giving out less details than the IRS instructions do, and I certainly don't want to just answer their 100 questions and "hope for the best" without understanding what I'm doing.

Eight-plus years with TurboTax
It works for me every year, although this year it just seemed like there were places where there could have been more of your helpful tips or explanations.

TurboTax is my lifeline.
I am a procrastinator, leaving everything for the last moment. For some reason doing my taxes is particularly difficult to get up for. TurboTax has made last minute plausible. Step by step and straight forward. I don't understand why I waited.

Deceased Members
My late husband used this platform and I continued to follow suit. However, it isn't user-friendly when it comes to filing for deceased. There were many questions that I wasn't sure of when filing, but no examples were given to select the best answer. I'm sure I chose items I shouldn't have. Probably why I owe taxes.

The place to improve: Rental Property Summary
Your step-by-step menu for enter/modifying rental properties are confusing. Say I have multiple rental properties, after I entered them once, I want to go back to some specific property to revise some records. But I can't directly go to that property - I have to go thru the entire process from very beginning, even the first few properties have nothing to do with the place I intended to go. Suggest to design a summary sheet at very beginning of the rental property portion listing all properties listed in Schedule E.
