I've used it for years but at some point, if the trend continues that may end. And that will be tragic because they are the best. Intuit/Turbotax should have a loyalty discount or something. No benefit to being a continual user year after year.

Our returns aren't overly simple or complex, but each year we find ourselves in workflow loops reviewing the same thing endlessly, or trying to file the same thing endlessly. This year (2022 tax year) i literally spent an hour trying to get through the filing process with constant loops of asking for my previous year AGI & reconfirming my wife & my IDs etc. It took about 5 sessions across both of us to get through this final hurdle. For a paid product to simply input required taxation data that the government should just provide for free, it's hard to feel good about TurboTax & the annual experience of using it.

I ran into issues when claiming my daughter/dependent for the child tax credit. No matter how many times I deleted the info and reentered it, it kept saying my daughter didn't qualify for 'disqualifying reasons'. Very confusing and frustrating, with little info to explain why made available. Eventually I just filed them as is to meet the deadline, then had to go back into turbo tax to file an amendment which then finally registered her as qualifying for the tax credit. Frustrating for sure, but eventually got everything I needed!

A simple tax return is one that's filed using IRS Form 1040 only, without having to attach any forms or schedules. Only certain taxpayers are eligible.
