Rated 2 out of 5 by from Very Underwhelming LIVE Experience Use of TurboTax software/website is easy enough. Some processes seem like they could be combined so that your Tax Due amount shown doesn't rise and then fall at a later time when relevant questions finally get asked (ex: 1098-T is entered and entry of scholarships/grants cause large increase in taxes due, 8 steps later you are asked about student status which qualifies for credits/deductions reducing liability...why not handle those steps at the same time so the calculation/display is more accurate in real time). The first LIVE agent I spoke with did not seem like an Expert to me. The Agent spent most of our time together just reading the instructions on the screen (which is condescending in nearly every scenario), sometimes with tone and cadence of someone reading the info for the first time, and didn't seem to know anything more about reporting crypto than I did. Once they realized they couldn't help (about 15-20 minutes into our call), they transferred me to "A Tax Expert" (I thought I was already speaking with one). While I was on hold I thought of a solution to my problem, and the second person was able to confirm the solution I came up with was reasonable. This new person seemed to know more about the crypto process than the first. I had another question about a different situation in my taxes, and the new person was able to explain that issue to me. Once I was done and ready to file, I had one last question, and selected Expert Review. Again, this "Expert" did not instill confidence in me, even though they explicitly stated in chat "I am a Tax Expert". Most of our conversation felt like I was chatting with AI. I was told approximately that "the calculations look correct for the information I entered". Which makes sense, but I was concerned about whether I entered the information correctly, not how the computer calculated that info. I was then offered a "Review by a Tax Expert CPA" line-by-line, which would mean having to upload all my documents and wait for them to go over it. I declined as I was no longer certain I was actually paying for Experts since nearly every "expert" had offered to transfer me to an "expert". Upon personally reviewing the physical copy of my return, I discovered why my final concern (reviewed by an Expert) didn't seem right...once again, figuring the problem out on my own. I even shared my documents with the Agent, and they didn't seem to notice the clear reason why my number of concern was higher than I thought it should be, and I think an "Expert" would have noticed and been able to explain it to me. I feel like I paid $120 for a $20 value.

Our tax situation this year is complex with a child going off to college and having 3 kids total.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from FORM 8812 SCHEDULE 8812 KEEP APPEARING IN MY RETURN. NO REASON - NO KIDS. TOOK DAYS TO REMOVE THE SCHEDULE. HAD TO REDO A NEW RETURN 3 TIMES. NEVER HAD PROBLEMS IN 15 YEARS OF USING TURBO TAX.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Our GoTo Tax Software We've used TurboTax for many years. A few years ago we tried another service but quickly came back to TurboTax. They have gone up on fees (Grumble, grumble) and we are not pleased with that since we must file in more than one state, but we still use the service. So much easier that filling out forms for yourself.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Experts put my mind at ease This year was a different year for me when it came to taxes, because I sold a house and then bought a house. I tried completing it myself but I was obviously doing something wrong as it was coming back saying I owed a lot in taxes. Thankfully, the expert was able to walk me through the correct way to file everything and put my mind at ease.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Wasn't a good year, but got it done Overall TurboTax has been my best friend since I began my first filing journey but this year has had so many issues, I was just about done but had to completely restart because of their own technical issues. And the second time around was down to the final step and I couldn't get it to work and feared of losing it all again. But I had an amazing helper and we figured it out together with no frustration or push-ness (as I've experienced before)
