This year not so much - ran into some problems and phone support given varied from fair to wrong. 1. After being very close to finished and e-filing, noticed that imported data for 2020 was way wrong. Found in reading that it has to be done 1st thing before any entries. Don't remember that I didn't do this, but also had to create an Amended 2020 return, so that might have been a problem. I then saved that return, started a new one, and transferred the 2020 data. Using the Forms View, I looked at data transferred, and it was correct. So I called Support and asked if it would work if edit the same Form in my 1st Return to match the 2nd one, and they said yes. So I tried that, and it worked pretty well, so I continued on with 1st return. But later, I checked and still found some of the same incorrect 2020 data. Bummer. Bottom line, I went ahead, redid everything in the 2nd Return and filed it. 2. Along the way in the 2nd Return, TurboTax fussed at me because on one W-2 there was no Employer's ID in the State section. Again I called support and they said just leave that field blank and go ahead and file it. I liked that because I did not want to file with a W-2 that was not identical to the one the Employer sent to the IRS. However, at the very end, TurboTax would not let me e-file until that field had an ID in it. I looked at my 2020 W-2, and that field had the same ID as the EIN field , so I just copied that into the interview. I think if that field is blank, TurboTax should just assume it is the same as the main EIN field.
