This year when I did so, Turbotax led me to a page that wasn't specific to the topic, foreign tax credit. I read everything Turbotax had to explain why I wasn't allowed to use all my foreign taxes paid, but never found anything approaching an answer. 2. After e-filing my Federal Return I am told I must print a form 8453 and snail mail it to the IRS. This is entirely new with no explanation whatsoever, which makes me very nervous. So I must do something I have no understanding of. Not good enough, Turbotax!!

A simple tax return is one that's filed using IRS Form 1040 only, without having to attach any forms or schedules. Only certain taxpayers are eligible.
