Rated 3 out of 5 by from Full service led to some counterintuitive hassles This was my first time using a full-service tax preparation service, so caveat: I may be a tougher customer since I've been doing our taxes myself for many years. The full service setup was quite easy - provide all your documents, and a tax pro will be assigned. Angela was a friendly and professional partner for a very complex return (got married, had a baby, changed jobs, refinanced a house ... all in one year!). When a draft of the return was provided, I noticed an error in how capital gains were computed -- this was pretty minor clerical issue, but resulted in a $2000 difference in what I owed. I notified my professional, who all but agreed with me this was a mistake, but suggested I needed to amend my return after submission, rather than correcting it in the original return. The reason given was that the "quality unit" at turbotax prevented them from fixing errors. The irony of this wasn't lost on me. The suggested course was to submit the erroneous return, then immediately amend it, all because of an internal TurboTax policy related to their "quality unit" that didn't catch the error in the first place. Overall the experience was OK, and I'm still waiting on the results of the amended return.

I paid for the Turbo Tax Download and then besides filing the Federal and Illinois it charged me $45 to add the state of Missouri, then it charged me $25 to file each state so my total was over $200. Thought when I bought the CD Download some of this was included
