Rated 3 out of 5 by from Use Changes Not Great for 2020 I have used TurboTax for about 15 years. This year the process was different and not in a good way. Some things were not explained well and my 2019 information was not compared side by side with my 2020 data, which I always found helpful.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Truly Grateful for TurboTax I have not prepared my own taxes very often in the past - last year was my first attempt. This year, several new factors regarding my income had to be handled. In my solo efforts, I had clearly made some very significant mistakes in entering information in the right categories. In fact, my errors had me paying an additional $10,000+ in taxes. After a thorough review by Mary, this tax burden was eliminated and I will now receive a small refund. I am very pleased by the services TurboTax has provided and particularly impressed by the skill, patience, thoroughness, and talent I experienced being handled by Mary. She deserves great recognition for her assistance to myself and I am certain the many others she has helped through this process. (Time to give her a raise!) Thank you!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not totally worthless They force all 1099-MISC income to be business income unless it comes from one their own categories such as gambling winnings. There are other categories of unearned income that they don't list, and it is frustrating because they open a schedule C and assume that self-employment tax is due. Furthermore, I think it is outrageous that they ask all this personal information in order to post a review. I fudged everything they asked.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Turbo Tax Flaw As you prepare your Federal it calculates using estimates for you whether you should itemize or take the standard deduction. If you chose standard deduction and do not put in all your itemized deductions it does not carry or even ask you for itemized deductions when you perform your state taxes. You have to know this and go back and put all your itemized deductions in the Federal even if you take the standard deduction to get credit on your state return.
