Unfortunately, they have decided to change the website's features and hide certain things behind pay walls. One of these is any type of filing as a self-employed or independent contractor. Up until this point in my tax filing, I was happy and able to use the free version, but to find out that it cost $60 to use this service because I had one small summer job to file felt outrageous. I was not very pleased to see that something that had previously been free now hidden behind a $60 payment.

Then my card was charged $113, just for the upgrade. I'm very confused and annoyed about being overcharged. Not sure what that was all about. I like TurboTax but this time around was super irritating.

A simple tax return is one that's filed using IRS Form 1040 only, without having to attach any forms or schedules. Only certain taxpayers are eligible.
