Because of system limitations between online and desktop versions, inability to capture and compare prior year results, and all but one customer service agents willing to adequately help thru problem resolution. Buyer beware!

It forced me to use a Schedule C which would enforce Self Employment Tax. I am a YouTube contributor and the funds they send me are Royalties and need to go on Schedule E. I had to leave Step-By-Step and go to Forms to manually input. Not Fun.

If you have a simple tax return, you can file for free yourself with TurboTax Free Edition, or you can file with TurboTax Live Assisted Basic or TurboTax Live Full Service Basic at the listed price.

A simple tax return is one that's filed using IRS Form 1040 only, without having to attach any forms or schedules. Only certain taxpayers are eligible.
