Rated 5 out of 5 by from Ya gotta love 'em Their not the only game in town, but having used a few I find Turbo Tax to be the most thorough, and (even just using the automated help) the most helpful as you complete your tax forms. Everything is in the background, you just see a nice, friendly interface. Just FYI - for my 2020 filing Fed cost me $120 (WITH self-employment tax forms included) and State cost me $50.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My "GoTo" Tax Solution since 1985 I have been using TurboTax since 1985 and have always felt completely satisfied and safe with the results. The only time I had to submit an amended tax return was when I mistakenly used the previous year's W2 to report my income. I was easily able to go back to the return on my computer, enter the correct numbers and write a check to cover the costs to the IRS. Even that was easier than what I would have done if I hadn't used tax software. I tried using a tax accountant one year on the advice of a friend, and the accountant said he couldn't find anymore deductions than TurboTax had come up with. That cost me 3 times what TurboTax cost at the time, so I've never considered having anyone else do my taxes since!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from TurboBax forced me to pay Deluxe TurboTax is a good software but it forced me to pay $60 for Deluxe (did not give me an option to opt-out). Deluxe was not required for me but the site still forced me to do it. I guess filing for free is not really free.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Issue when saving to External Hard Drive I purchased the CD version of Deluxe Turbo Tax from Costco. I completed both my Federal and Arizona taxes and getting ready to e-file both. I saved off a copy to the PC Hard Drive and then saved off a version from Turbo Tax app to an external Hard Drive (vs just copying the file). The Turbo Tax app closed and I could not re-open it from the PC. I called into Intuit for help and it was suggested that I uninstall and reinstall the app. I tried that, but somehow the app was trying to locate some time of config file on the external hard drive. After hours of fighting it, I decided to load Turbo tax on another PC, but this PC did not have a CD drive. So I tried to download off of the Intuit Turbo Tax site using the CD license. Well that was not allowed, so I had to call Intuit again. This time the wait was about an hour. The lady on the other end was gracious and pleasant and e-mailed me a form to process for a refund and then billed me for the download version. Had some other issues as Turbo Tax app did not recognize my 2020 file and when I tried to pull up the 2019 file that I also saved to the external hard drive at the same time, for some reason, I noticed they were both saved as a MS Edge pdf and not Adobe pdf, Turbo Tax was only able to pull about half of the data into the 2020 app. Finally after midnight I was able to re-enter the data and was able to e-file.
