Rated 4 out of 5 by from Turbo Tax still solid Turbo Tax is a solid, helpful tax prep software for companies that don't need to hire expensive tax preparers. Big omission in the California state return is that there is no R&D credit form. You have to fill in the form manually and then add the # everywhere manually. This credit has been available to take since 2015 and yet no form 6 years later

Rated 1 out of 5 by from So Frustrating! Live help was not worth it. I paid extra to get the very last detail completed. Chatted with 3 experts in 40 minutes, they all simply ended the chat without helping. Finally got a phone call, she was very helpful, I completed the detail. Turns out it just needed a zero to be entered because I was not eligible for that deduction. Wow, free e-file is sooo much better, clearer and FREE. I paid 170.00 extra to find out that turbo tax was asking me for a number I didn't even need to provide.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The live help was awesome! We talked to five different people and each one was very nice. We were disconnected several times but kept at it. Lindsey helped us understand the QBI issue and it was very satisfying to have it explained clearly. Antonesha B. was the last person we spoke with and she figured out the final piece of the puzzle!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Mostly easy to use, with some bugs Most of the filing was easy, but some things were quite difficult - - The Search window does not render properly. Can't type anything and have to restart Turbotax each time search is clicked. - The amount paid with the tax extension does not register, even though it shows up properly in the turbotax UI. This is a bug. It has to be manually entered in the appropriate schedule, and finding out which schedule to use had to be done outside Turbotax - The online help is helpful for the most basic use cases - otherwise it is not helpful and can even be totally useless, by recommending you to use the search feature. The information provided by users in the forum is far more useful. - Filing a tax extension had to be done outside the software
