Rated 5 out of 5 by from Turbo Tax is the Greatest I have been using Turbo Tax for over 15 years and every year when the IRS changes the tax code, TT is on top of it. I trust TT and wouldn't use any other software on the market. This year, I had some tricky situations and TT advisors helped me. Thanks!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Simply reliable, easy, and accurate I love the simple questions and walk through. Only thing i would recommend is when it get to asking form questions in the final wrap up, maybe ask them with a little more explanation or go back to the basic version of the question.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor Service I was unable to add the Max product for full audit protection as I have done in previous years. She was completely unhelpful with that matter. Several times I needed clear, concise answers about my returns, and she responded as if she was completely disconnected from the conversation we were having. This disconnected style continued during my interactions. Overall, Turbo Tax has provided very poor service for the "full service" option. I was still unable to add Max and received no consistent reason as to why I could not while I have added it successfully in previous years. Additionally, I spoke with Frederick regarding my case number. I wanted to change the representative handling my account. He indicated that he was an attorney there, but did not specify if he worked directly for Turbo Tax or in some other capacity. Frederick also indicated that the tax returns were almost complete, and that it would make little difference to change the representative. This highlights a very serious problem with Turbo Tax. It conveys a off putting style of operations, where customers cannot contact anyone to follow up, no last names are given, and if contact information or case numbers are requested for reference or follow up, they are not given. For example, Frederick indicated that I should contact him should I have any other issues, but would give no reasonable way to contact him making his remarks seem disingenuous, which is unfortunately consistent with my experience this year. I did have an issue adding the Max product. I attempted to contact Frederick, but Darlene, Anna, or Tennille whom I also spoke with there did not know who he was or how to contact him. This is extremely off putting. I conveys unprofessionalism and a lack of thoroughness. In addition, it creates doubt about the competence of the people doing my tax returns. I chose Turbo Tax to file our returns properly, and to reduce anxiety and frustration, not increase it. The only representative there that made some attempt to find a concrete resolution was Tenille. However, in the end all she did was give me the number to Audit Defense, which was no resolution as they could only sell a new product not answer a question about a technical issue in the Turbo Tax account. It has been a most disappointing experience, which needlessly compounds the understandable anxiety that most people have toward the tax preparation process. It was one of the reasons I tried full service. However, based on my experience with this service, it is not full service, and it creates an unnecessary complication to the tax preparation process, that Turbo Tax representatives seem disinterested to alleviate. Turbo Tax should improve the quality of its service and reduce its prices.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from TurboTax is not awesome I have used Turbo Tax for years, and if there's nothing too complicated, it's great. But this is the second time that I've had problems and I will not be using it again. The first problem was when I had a household employee. Turbo Tax got it right at the federal level, but did not give much help at the State level, and that part got messed up. So this year, I decide to go with with the Full Service Deluxe. I no longer have the household employee, but I and my partner both took money out of retirement accounts to get through COVID, under the understanding that we each could take out up to $100k without penalty - just the usual additional taxable income. Our tax "expert" told us that we were paying a 10% penalty on the combined amount over $100k. We thought this was wrong and spent time looking it up, and confirmed that we should not pay the 10% penalty, and when we told our "expert" what we had found, they said that the forms were filled out correctly, and the amount that we owed was actually due to the usual tax. So, we did not get the time savings we were looking for, and I have no way to double check what was actually prepared before filing it, unless I do it myself or take it to someone else.
