Rated 3 out of 5 by from Turbo tax needs more in-context help tips there are a lot of areas that are very confusing to the users, and worse than that is, there is no explanation on what is the right way to input data. for example, if you have a $1m+ loan before 2017, and you bought a second home in 2021, then turbotax does not tell you all the options you have when reporting mortgage interests. Also, on PFL, it is unclear how turbotax gets the data automatically in state return.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from It is NEVER free - forced me to buy Deluxe Turbo Tax is never free and borders on false advertising. They forced me to buy the Deluxe version for $59 (plus the state for $40 which it never even mentioned) all to receive a $2 (yes TWO dollar) refund for some IRA I had. The only way to correct it I found was to clear EVERYTHING and re-enter all my tax info, only to find even after I purposefully tried to leave the $2 retirement credit off, it still forced me to buy the Deluxe version. I should have been able to use the free one since I did a standard deduction anyway with literally nothing special entered or selected, just basics like income info. It's a shameful business practice. Then the fact they coax people into paying for these charges from their refund, for a $39 fee, shows what type of company they are. Last time I ever use Turbo Tax.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love Turbo Tax I’ve used Turbo for 7 years and have never had any problems

Rated 4 out of 5 by from This Year The Options Were Less Clear I am not as confident that things are filled out correctly this year with the taxes owed from my 2020 retirement fund Covid withdrawal. Many steps seemed less clear this year when they have been more straightforward in the past. I may need to get a tax preparer next year.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from TurboTax is Almost Better Than An Audit This program lacks the ability to easily see what has been done, and why the numbers have calculated to reach certain amounts. Comparing your actual tax return to the various partitions of this program is hardly transparent. Also, it loves to take you in circles, so that you review the same information more times than the IRS does. Lastly, it explains about as much as your High School teachers did, so good luck. I hope you went to college, and/or married an accountant.
