Rated 1 out of 5 by khar from could be better irs free file no longer an option. forced to pay $60 for federal just because i have an HSA even though it made no difference. sick of having to pay money just to file my taxes. shouldn’t have to pay money for money that’s already owed to me and then taxed on top of that. I've used turbo tax for the last 10+ years and it gets worse every year. please get it together.

Only one field left me baffled, and I'm not finding an answer on line or in Turbo Tax documentation. "why should I file an estimated tax for 2023?" Our income was higher in 2022 than it will be in 2023 due to a withdrawal from 401K for house purchase......no answers available. Not going to pay that estimated tax as our retirement income has income tax payments in every check.

If you have a simple tax return, you can file for free with TurboTax Free Edition or TurboTax Live Assisted Basic. You can also file with TurboTax Live Full Service Basic at the listed price.

A simple tax return is one that's filed using IRS Form 1040 only, without having to attach any forms or schedules. Only certain taxpayers are eligible.
