Rated 3 out of 5 by from Software buggier than before, pricing misleading I've used TurboTax for around 7 years, and have generally been happy with it. It helps with all different tax situations, and makes it pretty easy to maximize your deductions and credits. And I like that there are more options than ever for importing tax documents, including scanning your W-2 with your smartphone and transmitting it directly to TurboTax. However, there seem to be more bugs than in previous years. For example, the transmission of the image scanned by phone did not capture all of the information on the form and required me to check everything and manually enter missing data. (It was not a problem of the image being unclear, but rather, a problem with the software.) Even more frustrating, there were duplicate imports of other forms such as 1099s from banks, and those were also missing data and required manual entry. Finally, the pricing is sneaky, in that the basic version of the software ($39 for federal return before March 1) is able to import a 1099-B form for capital gains, but in order for you to actually use that information, you have to upgrade to the premium version ($89 before Mar. 1, and because I started the return before that date but upgraded afterward, I had to pay the non-discounted $119).
