Rated 3 out of 5 by from does not catch your errors I THINK THERE SHOULD BE A WAY TO WRITE SOFTWARE THAT CATCHES SIMPLE + COMMON ERRORS. FOR EXAMPLE I ACCIDENTALLY HAD MY HUSBAND'S SOCIAL SEC # ENTERED IN BOX B INSTEAD OF THE EMPLOYER EIN. MY FED/STATE RETURNS WERE REJECTED INSTANTLY BECAUSE THE # IN THE BOX WAS WRONG. HOW IS IT THAT THE IRS CAN CATCH THAT INSTANTLY? WHY CAN'T TURBOTAX SOFTWARE CATCH IT TOO???

Rated 3 out of 5 by from overall easy software but hidden costs As someone who wanted to file my own taxes for the first time turbo tax is a nice non-intimidating way to do just that. I do have the fortune of having an accountant in the family who usually handles my taxes every year so I typically don't see any cost that come with paying someone to do them that being said I started my taxes using turbo tax on their recommendation. The reason for 3 stars not 5 is the cost that comes with using this service that not totally transparent like the extra charge for having the payment come from my refund or the charge for state returns that is presented as a "pay this or your missing out" other than the steep fees it was nice being able to run through and finish my taxes pretty stress free.
