Rated 4 out of 5 by from Does the job but assumes you know more than should I've been using TurboTax Premier for years. It does the job but there are sections that they give little explanation for and no links to help, which suggests they assume you know more than you should need to know about the tax code. Its job is to educate and lead when in Easy Step. It has gotten lamer over the years with fewer helps and links. I do like the list of topics approach and let you step through them or jump back to a previously topic already stepped through. Suggestions for TurboTax (if they read these): * Don't ask me about carry-overs when you did my taxes last year! You have the data (or should have it). * Make UI Yes/No consistent... sometimes Yes/No is in the space above the buttons, other times it is on the buttons. * Remember previous settings. Many do but not all! * Add more links to layperson's language explanations for anything beyond the simple terms. * Your OR state help/explanations is pretty skimpy!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Turbo tax makes complex tax issues managable Last year we used Turbo tax in addition to a tax professional to see how close we could get. Turbo tax actually detected an error they made and we were able to bring it to their attention before filing. The software is a little frustrating when you know the forms well but if you can be patient with seemingly unnecessary questions, the software takes that data and converts it into everything that is needed. It also allows you to go straight to the forms as needed to ensure that things are addressed appropriately. Added bonus as a clergy person, turbo tax home and business takes care of all the unusual tax issues easily and clearly.
