Rated 2 out of 5 by from Pay with Credit Card form is GARBAGE Turbo Tax software itself is fine. But after filling out all the information if you get audit defense and efile your state taxes and you choose to pay with credit card you are redirected to a separate form. This form is TOTAL GARBAGE. None of the fields autopopulate either from your tax info or from your web browser even if you have an intuit account. You need to completely fill in the idiot forms twice with all the same information. It made me angry last year but I didn't bother writing a review because I was just glad to be done with taxes, but it's the same this year.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from TURBO TAX IS GOOD BUT SHOULD BE A LOT BETTER I've used TurboTax for many year with some success but way too much difficulty figuring things out from year to year. As it seems to be pushing for more users to work online, it has interfered in serious ways with those of us who prefer to work entirely on our computers. Just a few examples of problems I have experienced: -- Printing returns has become more cumbersome with print commands sometimes sending the user to the Intuit website. -- Opening and working with returns from previous years sometime requires a "keychain code". Very annoying. -- Too many unused, blank forms are used. -- No easy way to examine calculations, especially those that figure taxes owed. -- The program does not easily show the impact of different ways of reporting. -- Explanations are generally too wonky, using abbreviations and references requiring tax expertise. -- A lot of what is wrong can be blamed on the complexity of the tax system, but we pay a lot to TurboTax to simplify what shouldn't be so complicated. Too often it fails. -- It's very difficult to figure out how to file for an extension online. -- The state tax information (for Hawaii) is extremely limited. There's no clear explanation of differences in state amounts. -- There seems to be no clear way of preparing W-4s. TurboTax should be more helpful in figuring the impact of various decisions. -- As an overall criticism, TurboTax seems to rely too heavily on IRS lingo, rather than translating difficult concepts for non-experts. -- TurboTax should be a major lobbying force with IRS to make forms and instructions clearer. -- Ideally, Turbo Tax shouldn't have to exist, and neither should tax filing professionals in general. The IRS itself should invest in creating a much better electronic filing systems, perhaps with different levels of information, explanation and difficulty. Finally, TurboTax does a great job keeping up with changes in tax law and avoiding glitches in its software. But it needs to do more with improving the users experience and avoiding confusion between what can be done with the software on the computer and on line. And a closing question: Is TurboTax looking at the impact of AI on future tax filing, with an eye to using the emerging availability of unlimited instant knowledge and data to make significant improvements or perhaps a major makeover in the ability of average Americans to file their own taxes?

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Turbo Tax is fast and easy! I like using Turbo Tax because it's quick and its tool tips are very insightful. I would recommend Turbo Tax add the ability to import supplemental 1099-DIV forms for entering the Adjusted Cost Basis on stock sales automatically.
