Quality Degraded from past years
I have been using TurboTax to do my taxes for last 10-15 years. However, I have noticed considerable degradation in their quality over last 2-3 years. This year, step-by-step guidance on Credits and Deductions was erroneous. It never guided through eligibility of each deduction but rather left it on user to determine. Secondly, in property taxes section, there was no way to specify a situation where I have a paid-property in other state that I do not typically reside. There are many other issues I encountered in entering education loan.

The Worst Service EVER!!!!
We bought the TurboTax Deluxe and still had to pay for the state tax return even though one state was included. Also, the experience is terrible. If you wanted to create a true, easy filing experience, you would partner with experience management companies that know what to do. This is a terrible experience from start to finish. I'm gonna make sure we lobby for the government to make a tool so we don't have to file our taxes with the private sector like you. Genuinely terrible.

Turbo Tax works well 95%
Sometimes instructions can be confusing or ambiguous. For example, because I rent out 1/2 my duplex, 1/2 my mortgage was taken in Sch E. I used the feature i enter my full amounts of expenses including mortgage interest whereby Turbo would take out 1/2. In Deductions, there was a note that the interest was already accounted for in Sch E, but message should have included that I can only deduct 1/2 in Deductions.

Captured market, lackluster product
Haven't used TurboTax in 10+ years, not really impressed with the state of the product. Looks great and is basically gamified, but the automation isn't there for non-standard situations. Intuit has regulatory capture going for it, and it shows via the gaps in this product. It didn't correctly pickup the recipient address off a scanned 1099-DIV, and then wouldn't accept the obviously correct zip code. It's not set up to handle non-qualified ESPP plans, because it refused to accept the 1099-B info exactly as printed. It's an ESPP plan but with 20% match, not a discount. As far as I can tell, TurboTax cannot correctly handle this situation. Mistakenly thought my spouse had lost health coverage, with no option to skip that line of questioning. I guess I just hope it works out!
