Rated 2 out of 5 by from Confusing premium membership My membership was forced into a premium membership after I uploaded my past 1040 documents into the site. I never got a message saying that was going to happen by uploading past returns. An it is the hardest thing to get customer service to call you back. My return is very simple and was supposed to be free. Instead I ended up having to pay for a premium service.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Snuck in extra charges I wanted to apply for the free standard deduction. Sneakily, the prompts guided me away from this option as I filled in my information. I felt deceived and ended up paying in the end as I didn't want to start over and not only file my taxes again but figure out how to avoid the sly diversions that would lead me to have to pay. I just wanted to file for free but instead was bombarded with all these added extras. Annoying and confusing.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from TurboTax makes filing each year so easy! I'll never not use TurboTax. They make each step of the process so simple, taking out all of the confusion/stress of filing. This year has been my most complicated to date (tax-wise) and the process was still so thorough - I feel confident in the final submission.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Price Keeps Going Up The price for the service goes up every year. Not worth the time. I recommend you to find someone else to do your taxes for you. I will never be using this service again.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from CSRS Form 1099R Before President Reagan replaced CSRS with FERS, federal retired employees enjoyed the 3-Year Recovery Rule. The rule allowed the recovery of pre-taxed contributions deposited into the pension funds within three years following retirement. Obviously, the change was made to spread out the recovery period from three to what? 20 or 30 years? IRS now treats that tax return deduction under either Simplified Rule or General Method. Nowhere in Turbo guidelines does it make a distinction. I assume one would have been a greater benefit to me than the other for 2022. Why is there no calculation offered in Turbo Tax? I am disappointed. References to IRS publications waste my time.
