However, TurboTax has forced me to pay for the Self-Employed version of the product because of the minor amount of income from the choral singing group. I do not think this is appropriate. I think the incremental amount is $30 but it irks me.

A simple tax return is one that's filed using IRS Form 1040 only, without having to attach any forms or schedules. Only certain taxpayers are eligible.
