Rated 3 out of 5 by from Mediocre Experience I have been using this program for years and years and it just doesn't seem to be user-friendly for my changing requirements. Specifically, I sell some of my season tickets at face value so I get a 1099-K. This was a miserable experience to reconcile, probably close to 50% of my time filing was spent on this. Also, the college section for my children (use of 529 funds) was confusing and poor. Will seek alternative options for next year.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Constant Requests To Upgrade, Poor Support This is my fourth year with TurboTax. Other years have been a breeze since I have a very simple return. But this year, I hit a snag when the program told me I didn't qualify as Head of Household (for the Earned Income Tax Credit), because I didn't pay more than 50% of my dependent's expenses. In fact I paid 100%. I could not get an answer on how to fix this. I called Support and got a live agent on the phone who kept me waiting for 30 minutes before she hung up on me. I had to call back again and wait in line for another agent. She tried to assist me, even looking at my screen, and finally said she couldn't help. She suggested I ask for Live Tax Help, but that I'd have to pay double my original fee to ask my question. I closed the call and completed my return. As it turns out, which I found out later in filing that the reason I didn't qualify as Head of Household had nothing to do with how much of the expenses I paid, but that I turned 65 and could no longer qualify for the EITC. So the erroneous messages in the program and two clueless agents later, I was able to finish my return. Had I listened to the agents, I'd have had to pay double to resolve an error in TurboTax. And to top it off, on almost every other page I was interrupted with a screen trying to get me to "upgrade" from the $59 base return. If this is how TurboTax is going to be going forward, this will be my last year using the site to file my very simple tax return.

They walk you through ever step of the way and if there is a problem they highlight it to make sure you fix it. As a small business owner with all the deductions TurboTax makes it easy for me to make sure I am getting it all covered.
