Rated 3 out of 5 by from Didn't work, but the agent was awsome. This was my first time using TurboTax. I really liked most of the people that I dealt with in resolving the many issues I had with TurboTax. I started preparing my taxes in February 21. I figured that I would have my taxes completed by February 28, and be able to take advantage of the $30 rebate for early filing. Boy, was I wrong. The product itself had so many flaws. I first purchased my TurboTax Deluxe CD with State tax forms included. I never realized how much information I would have to input. The product made it sound like anyone could just add copies of their 1099's to the program. I had to type in six 1099's making sure to get every character correct, so that it would match up with IRS records. After trying this several times myself, I contacted Turbo Tax, and was guided through retyping these over and over again. The information was not going into the correct places, and the TurboTax program was changing my information. Twice I had gone a through software tech, and even sent the forms I was working on via a sanitized version, and was given tips and trials, with no end in sight. I was getting so frustrated with having to repeat these steps over and over again. I finally blew up, and requested to talk to a supervisor, which I probably should have done long before. I spent at least 40 hours on line working to resolve the issues I was having. When I did speak to a supervisor, I worked a very helpful agent who walked me through doing my TurboTax online, instead of via the CD. I really thought I was getting to the end, when we seen that TurboTax was not working with my Social Security. I am sorry that I didn't have the woman's name at that point, as she was so kind and patient. I was even more frustrated, and was offered to utilize the full expert, where I would just hand over my forms and it would be done for me. After copying all of my 1099's along with other records, I was looking forward to having these taxes completed, and breathing a sigh of relief. This didn't work either. Barbara, was one of the kindest most patient people I ever had to deal with, and she still was not able to complete this task. When she was not able to get this to work, we then went on to me inputting the tax again. This time through TurboTax Premier online. Barbara had me create a new TurboTax account, with a different email address and I resubmitted all of my information again. After it was finally entered, again I felt relived that my troubles were finally over, until a few hours later I got a message that my taxes had been rejected. I contacted TurboTax, because I thought it would be to late to call Barbara back, and I was told to enter my 2019 AGI as 0. I did this and I seen that both my federal and state tax were then accepted. Except, in the wee hours of the morning, I got another rejection. I went back into TurboTax again, entered the AGI as 0 again, and finally after about 50 hours in to this nightmare, I finally am finished. At this point, I had ended up spending a total of 50 hours between entering information and making phone calls. I had requested a refund of my initial purchase, due to all of the time I had spent on this. I didn't like the product at all, however, most of the people who had helped me along the way were very professional, and patient I would also like to note that back in February, I had actually complained that I didn’t think that the amount of my refund was correct because of difference when I calculated my tax based on my AGI, and looked up the numbers in the tax tables. I was unaware of the benefit of having qualified dividends not being taxed. The expert that I spoke to was a CPA, and he called me back and had a document that ex showed why the qualified dividends were not taxed for my income bracket. He also was extremely helpful. This information prompted me to submit a 1040x, for 2017 the year that I didn’t fill in the entry for qualified dividends, in order to take advantage of tax savings. The IRS has returned a correction for 2018 for the qualified dividends. At this point, the IRS does not have access to my 2019 return, however I will make sure to check on qualified dividends when they are able to access my information. . If you asked me a few weeks ago, I would tell you that I would never use TurboTax again. The final tax was completed, and we already have our return. Now, I think I would say that I would definitely use TurboTax Premier for next year.
