Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Tax Experience Everything was simple and clearly laid out. For a complex process like a tax return, this is a great system for helping people get it done easily. One small recommendation is that H+R Block knows what states don't need to do a tax return so it tells you "Florida doesn't require taxes to be filed" and that's the end of it. Giving the option to file a Florida tax return could be confusing to some people. But that's my only note! Great job!

I've been using TurboTax to file my tax return for a number of years...I am so very glad to have this program, which walks you through the income tax filing process with ease and allows for questions while you are working on the return. I especially like the forums that can be used as reference.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Two issues – not too bad This is our first time using TTax online. Until now, we've used a downloaded version. (We would still prefer that, but 2020 TTax will not run on our perfectly good Win7 computer – but that's the subject of another rant.) I'm very leery of any cloud-based data storage, from photos on up. If I keep my data and screw up, I have only myself to blame. If the cloud screws up, your photo of Great Grandma is gone forever. More recently, identity theft and others forms of hacking have become widespread. Even TTax wants to sell you – SELL YOU – identity theft insurance for an additional fee. I feel it should be included at no extra cost. Rants aside, my first experience with TTax Premiere online was quite smooth. There were only two glitches, and we're not even sure of one of them. Since our previous TTax years were local, TTax online said "Don't worry. If you have your last year's return, we can upload it for you." I tried. I had three .pdf versions, all generated by TurboTax 2019 Premiere (reflecting various amounts of work documents). TTax wouldn't accept any of them. There was no provision for uploading the actual .tax2019 file (why not?). So I had to enter all that information manually. This primarily affected ongoing year-to-year depreciation of our rental property, but otherwise was not that much of a problem. Then there was the Recovery Rebate Credit item. We did not receive stimulus checks because our 2019 AGI exceeded the $150,000 for married. But 2020's AGI was lower due to not having to take the Required Minimum Distribution of IRAs for 2020. And that's what Ttax used to tell us we were eligible for the RRC, even though we received no stimulus checks. We hope they're right. But Ttax has so many useful explanation boxes, you think they might have included an answer to that question. Other than that, data entry and prompting for it was smooth and understandable. If our refund goes smoothly, I'll probably stick with the online version. As Ttax said at the end, it will be easier next year because they jolly well will find this year's version.
