Rated 4 out of 5 by from More clarity REQUIRED for Foreign Tax & Deductions The Standard Deduction this year slightly exceeded my Itemized Deductions because of the additional $1,300 each for my wife and I being over 65 years old. TurboTax did NOT explain how I got a $27,400 deduction when the 1040 form said the deduction was $12,400 EACH. ALSO, I spent loads of time trying to fill out the Form 1116 based on the instructions provided. Finally, I entered the largest Foreign Dividend tax into the "EZ-GO" and the total Dividend tax popped up (no Form 1116 required). I then tried to enter the Income Foreign Tax and the Form 11116 popped up. I passed on adding this. I felt it was unclear as to whether you could add more than one tax item of the same "kind/category" on the Form1116 when it had space for three countries.
