Rated 1 out of 5 by from Lack of help I do not appreciate being forced to go in Deluxe mode when I did not really need too. I am giving you guys 100 dollars of my money because I could not do anything else. It is just ridiculous. I will have to use another site next year.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Turbo Tax is "Just OK" - Needs a Refresh I have been a customer of TurboTax for well over 15 years. I've seen changes I like and don't like. What I like: As always I like being guided through questions. My taxes aren't that complicated but I appreciate the thorough way TurboTax that I may not have been aware of, such as tax law changes and their implications to my situation. What I don’t like: 1. I typically purchase TurboTax from Costco. I like having a physical copy of the application should I even need to re-install it at some point. I did try the download one time and I didn’t like it because it was overly complex and that I had to deal with keeping and maintaining software keys. 2. This year, unfortunately, TurboTax brought back the CD keys. I hate those. TT did this a while back and I hated it then, I don’t hate it any less now. Please get rid of the key requirement. 3. UI is sub-par. The UI needs a refresh. It is clunky and the navigation at times can be confusing. Prompts are sometime confusing too. In general, it’s usable, but after over a decade of use, it’s gotten worse. 4. UI doesn’t not scale well to larger displays. TT doesn’t scale correctly to large displays. I have a 4K monitor and while the app is usable. It should scale dynamically to take advantage of the extra real-estate. 5. TT has gotten better with removing advertisements for add-ons along the way. But they’re still there. It’s OK if you ask for the purchase of the Audit Defense product because that happens just before the filing process. 6. Integration with financial institutions is clunky and you don’t have a way to cut-and-paste the passwords into the app. Many people these days are using much longer and complex passwords that are nearly impossible to re-enter. In my case I have a password safe that can simulate key-strokes. 7. Integration with financial institutions seems like it was added to TT as an afterthought. What’s worse is that if there is an issue with making a connection to my institution I receive a terse error message. In my case (as mentioned in the previous point) even though I used my password manager to type in the password, it was still incorrect. Turbo tax didn’t tell me that there was an issue with the password that was automatically entered, I had to deduce this was the issue by manually typing in a 20 character, cryptic password. Not fun. I was left to believe that maybe it was an issue with MFA (it wasn’t). So, please add some kind of diagnostic messages so the customer can know what went wrong, or at least know where to look. 8. When connecting to a financial institution, please allow password entry to be reviewed as clear-text. Typing in a password that is masked by bullets is old-school. That was OK when we had simple passwords, but now passwords are much more complex (as they should be). I want to be able to confirm what I am entering in is correct. If I make a typo in a character or two of a long password, how will I know unless I can see the text? Please add this feature. 9. When connecting to financial institutions, please provide the customer with specific diagnostics that tell the customer what part of the authentication went wrong. For instance “Your instituion requires additional authentication (e.g. MFA), please turn this feature off temporarily so TT can connect” or “User Name/Passord provided incorrect” or “Credentials provided are invalid”, or, "Your institutions has not yes published tax forms for download, please retry mm/dd/yyy". 10. Do not ask me to file state tax when you already know that I won’t need to. This question happens towards the end of the process, so by then, TT should know I haven’t done any work/lived in another state and that my state does not require state income tax; so don’t ask me. 11. Provide significant discounts for long-term customers (loyalty) like me. I chose to purpose TT year after yeat, because it's a solid app. However, there are other apps out there that compete with TT. It would be nice if TT recognized that they appreciate my business and give me reasons to return. 12, Even the Terms of Service just to provide this feedback is not user-friendly and a little intimidating. I am only submitting this review to provide what I think is useful feedback to Intuit in hopes that you will make a great product even better. In general, I’d like to see TT spend more time and money to do a complete redesign of TurboTax that uses a refreshed UI and with a seemless, usable interface that flows from one question to another. It’s time for a change.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Add an "IRS forms" tab? It would be nice if you added an extra tab called "IRS forms" that I could jump in and out of. Then I could more easily see what entry's effect what line item. Prior to 2009 I did my taxes the old fashioned way filling out the IRS forms, so not seeing the forms during the whole tax prep is inconvenient.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from TurboTax is the only tax prep software I would use I've been using TurboTax for years, and each year my return gets easier and easier to prepare. Why anyone would use anything (or anyone) else is beyond me. It downloads just about every document I need. For those that it cannot yet download, it will get the information from pdfs. Using anything else would not make sense to me.
