Several glitches in the software that required significant time to figure out this year-really simple stuff that is wrong like charitable contribution when using standard deduction. Had to search on line-none of he help via turbo tax was relevant or helpful. Had to engaged a CPA on my taxes due to incorrect cost basis calculation.

Even if one files with a professional service, it's a great, educational tool to go through and complete a turbotax return to find out how specific steps or strategies help you plan for next year. I love the running "taxes owed/refund" tab. It lets you know how much you owe or get back while you're completing your return. That way, when I enter any 1099 information or other income, I know how much of that earnings I keep and how much goes to the government. You'll be surprised the amount the government keeps if often higher than you expected based solely on the tax tables, having to do with your crossing income thresholds or having deductions excluded, for example.i recommend this to all my family and friends.
