Rated 2 out of 5 by from Disappointed at Costco I bought from Costco because TaxA#$ which I had used for years charged me hundreds more last year for same features I had always used. Goodbye! But I'm sorry I made the change because almost nothing imported like they said it would except my name , address and my gross income from 2019! I had to re-input hours of Banks, Lenders, Div, Int, Amortization, Depreciation info. W-2 etc etc... all those dozens of details that have been auto filled year after year. When Turbotax said it would import the data, I believed them! Next, I bought the most full featured product and it didn't even include E-filing a State return ... $25 extra! Next, they don't autopay your Estimated Taxes for you. Next year, if they don't fill in all that data from my previous year this review will take a serious turn for the worse.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I like. I've owed the IRS using turbo tax in the past, after asking tons of questions. Hoping that is not the case this time

Rated 3 out of 5 by from It's really the only option so I use it. The product mostly functions as expected. I acknowledge that I couldn't figure out my taxes without it. There are periodic glitches (it would have been very easy to miss that it never checked for my identity protection PIN, took me a little searching to find where to put it in. And then the continuous upsells annoy me, especially asking for $25 to e-file my state return when the product comes with one free state (it doesn't mention that's only the prep, not the filing). Whenever I pass the filing page, it defaults the radio button back to e-file even though I already selected not to e-file.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from It used to be great, Now it sucks. It used to be great, Now it sucks. But they got you because it's so hard to switch. First they jacked up the price to do a simple Schedule C for a small side business (several years ago). Then they made it impossible to contact anyone when problems arise. But the worst problem is I cannot enter my code that shows that I have already paid the electronic filing fee and the state tax fee, and then I can't use my credit card to pay for that, so I have to have the fee deducted from my refund (there goes another $40 for an additional fee). I'm sure it has something to do with my Firewall, but I've turned it off and TurboTax still does not work. H&RB here I come!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Frustrating filing experience this year I have used Turbo Tax for more than 10 years, and have been satisfied with the product and experience. This year's experience was very frustrating and led me to consider other filing options. I accidentally added a form, which I later realized I didn't need. Trying to find how to delete the form, and complete my return, was like being stuck in a hamster wheel! The program kept bringing me back to the same place, asking me to review and correct the form, but there was no information on how to delete it. We finally turned to the online user forum, and eventually found the steps we needed. I was shocked at how difficult and frustrating this simple task was! I certainly don't feel that I got my money's worth with the service this year and I'll explore other filing options next year.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from 2020 Return More Difficult than 2019 I had some changes this year: no dependents, filing status = Single vs. Head of Household, 529 college fund withdrawals and expenses reported on child’s return rather than mine. Turbo tax wanted me to report the 529 funds on my return referring to my daughter as a “Non-dependent”, but then would not acknowledge the expenses. Halfway in, I found through IRS Publication 970 that if she makes more than $4300, I cannot claim her as a dependent and she has to include the 529 funds on her return. When I tried to correct this, Turbo Tax would not allow me to delete all entries, some but not all. It did not affect the bottom line, but it made me feel uncomfortable that the information was still included in my return. Also, I refinanced my home in 2020 and received 3 1098’s for mortgage interest, one from previous mortgage co., one from company who handled my loan for 1st month after refi, and one from the refi company who kept my loan. Turbo Tax added up all loan amounts on the 3 1098’s to show that I have over $800,000 in mortgages, when I only have 1/3 of that, about $270,000. That needs to be fixed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from TURBO TAX SELF-EMPLOYED IS AWESOME! IT MAKES DOING TAXES ALMOST FUN! IT IS SO EASY TO FILL IN WHAT YOU NEED AND SKIP THE THINGS THAT DON'T APPLY TO YOU. IT HELPED FIND DEDUCTIONS THAT DIDN'T KNOW ABOUT.
