Our tax situation has gotten more complicated over the years (home ownership, investment sales, other deductions, etc.), but I have been able to continually self-prepare because of TurboTax. Particularly useful is the Live Help...it's a $70 difference, but having tax experts available for consultation for filing our return AND all year long is invaluable. Local providers want $160+ per hour to consult. TurboTax's value is pretty unbeatable.

I'm almost 30, I had all my paperwork together, and I was feeling confident in my ability to plug numbers into digital boxes. So I went with TurboTax, because it was supposed to be free filing. It's free, unless you had royalties from your author career on the side, then you have to upgrade to the Deluxe version. TurboTax goes through all the tedious questions of income and possible deductions, and it is easy. My federal return was filed and accepted within an hour. My state return, however, was rejected. And here is where the real fun started. I click into the email to "fix the error." But there are no instruction on how to fix said error, only what was considered an error. I spent twenty minutes, growing more enraged, trying to find where and how to fix this error. I refiled, and I still don't know if I actually fixed the error. I tried to contact a live person - because the bot was giving the same corporate answer that didn't help - but it was going to 222 minutes. I didn't have three hours to wait. TurboTax cost me $89 to file, took a chunk of my Sunday afternoon, and gave me a migraine. My accountant is only $10 more, and I don't have to do anything. I won't be using TurboTax again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from turbotax has made it so easy i think that before turbo tax doing your taxes was extremely stressful but this has really takes the cake. its so easy to use and i would reccomend this to anyone i ever meet ever!
