Rated 3 out of 5 by from Useful, but beware of flaws Seems to produce accurate returns with only a little more than the time it should take to work on them. Still has numerous annoying flaws, some of which go back several years: - false "we've hit a snag" notice when it checks for updates; - transfer from last year has no apparent work around when last year's tax data file is available but TurboTax can't find it; - No way to edit lists of source names in, for instance, Sched B interest and dividends or Qualified Business Income schedule, which just show numerous items with identical labels consisting of taxpayer's or brokerage's name, which makes it very time consuming to review them individually; - worksheets for partnership K-1s still aren't completely correct for entering Box 20 data, and TurboTax has two places the details are to be entered, and then calls it an error if you fill out both; - Schedule E worksheet won't accept $0 for added expenses categories under "Other" - almost impossible to correct error shown during Review for foreign source income and tax paid, because there's no link to wherever the information is coming from; and - unnecessarily difficult to apply federal refund to next year's estimated taxes, because it's not in the regular flow in EasyStep. I had to search through the help screen to find out when to access it. Also, on that screen, it calls one choice "receive full refund (recommended)", but provides no information about who recommends that or why it's recommended.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Terrible waste of money and time for a trust Program is so poorly written and presented. A pro would not use it and a novice (not just a beginner) will wrestle with it for many hours. So many bad things to say about TT for business... for trusts. Just absurd that the program would ask *me* to decide if I needed to file specific forms with ZERO explanation of what they are... no hyperlink... no popup.. nothing. So... for those of you who may need this... I googled each form and gave my interpretation of that form's application below. TT knew that my trust didn't run a business of any sort, so I can't imagine why it would ask me if I needed to file these things. Remember... all TT asked me was "Do you need to file form 720?" The explanations below are from my googling. 720..If you own a business that deals in goods and services subject to excise tax, you must 940..for employers to report your annual Federal Unemployment Tax Act (FUTA) tax 941..Employer's QUARTERLY Federal Tax Return 943..Employer's Annual Federal Tax Return for Agricultural Employees 944..smaller employers pay fed tax withheld from employees SS and Medicare owed 945.. fed tax withheld under bkup withholding requirements from all nonemployee payees 990..information about a nonprofit organization 1042.. income of foreign persons and entities Bxna.... this is NOT APPLICABLE.... and I'm Not Applicable

Rated 2 out of 5 by from The same rubbish as H & R !!! TurboTax is the same rubbish as H & R !!! Just AFTER stating "Transmit your return" it suddenly says "But before you e-file we need to do one more check" and suddenly says "There are errors in your return which need to be checked". And then produces a bunch of forms I have never heard of and even worse, do not apply to me, like "Transactions, etc. I am a retired person and I do not have "transactions" and similar rubbish. H & R does it the same way, making it impossible to e-file !!!!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Double Count Seller Interest on installment sale I had an installment sale on property in a non resident state. The sale closed in 2020. I had a double entry on seller interest; one from the sale form and one from seller financed interest payments. Also SC had a 44% capital gains tax deduction from the out of state sale of which the proceeds had already been removed from the total income. Then I also had to remove OSTC (other state tax credit). It was nice getting a triple deduction but I don't think it would have lasted long.
