Rated 3 out of 5 by from TurboTax is Tedious There were over 500 different screens to deal with to get in all the information. I found at least four times I was reentering information I had already entered that I should not have had to re-enter. One time I was trying to add some additional income that I did not know had to be included as income until much later in the process, and the link to do that was caught in a loop and I was unable do do so from that screen. I had to find out where to go to enter that information, then go back to the income tab and enter the numbers.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Disappointed this year Had a difficult time this year going back and making corrections. Explanations seemed insufficient. Electronic filing was rejected multiple times because last year's AGI was incorrect according to IRS files. Ended up having to mail hardcopy. The final printout did not give me the filing address when not making a payment. Had to look it up myself. I have used TurboTax for several years and, typically I have been pleased. This year, not so much.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Flawed process for Tax Audit Defense purchase The tax software product accurately imported data from prior tax returns and W-2 & 1099 sources. I filed for extension and waited to October to file. While reviewing the federal and state return entries, I was offered the Tax Audit Defense purchase, which I elected to purchase thru the TurboTax product screen, via credit card entries, and received an on-screen acknowledgement of successful payment. I created a TaxAudit identity login when prompted, during the purchase and recorded my login and password. I was interrupted fro an unrelated matter so I closed the TurboTax product after saving to that point. I returned several days later to complete my submission of the Federal tax return via e-file. In doing so, I conducted another final review of the returns and was again offered the TaxAudit Defense product. It did not automatically recognize the product was purchased, instead inviting credit card or refund withheld options. Going the credit card route, the product seemed to recognize the purchase, but asked for an unknown code displayed weeks earlier when the Tax Audit product was purchased (confirmed processed via my credit card company). It then offered to send the code to my email address of record, which has not arrived as of four hours later. A telephone call to the provided toll free number on the page was received by a person representing TaxAudit Defense, who advised I was misdirected to their number and for which she could not assist with the tax product issue. After a two hours' plus delay and aggravation with the infinite loop lock which prevented my submission of the e-filed federal return, I had to purchase the TaxAudit Defense product a second time, to exit the infinite loop situation. I expended/wasted more hours' time to submit the e-file version of this return than should have been necessary, not for the tax law reasons but for the sales pitch defect within the product. Either the code should have been recognizable after the sale or been acknowledgeable by the software when the question arose on the subsequent e-filing activity, because at all times of data entry and purchase, the TurboTax software was connected to the internet.

I would find it helpful to have a printable list of the areas I completed without having to go into our finished tax documents. Maybe the list could be generated at the time the program goes over the final review.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Easy & Affordable I love the ease with which I can file my own taxes and get the help I may need along the way. I hate the fact that they charge you an almost $40.00 fee to deduct your payment of TurboTax from your refund. You guys already make out good with the other things we buy through the process of doing our taxes, especially the add-ons. I actually let go of MAX this year because it wasnt worth it with the cost to have the fees taken out of my refund.
