Rated 1 out of 5 by from The Decline of TurboTax After more than 25 years of using TurboTax I am done. This is by far the worst and most frustrating experience. One flub after another in the software and not backed up with help you can reach. The TurboTax software incorrectly steered to buy another TurboTax product to handle my deceased Father-in-Law's estate only to find that I already had the correct version for filing. Wasted my money. Then they steered me to add comments on Schedule A that could not be deleted and could only mail in the return. I had to re-do TurboTax. Then it took over one hour to get them to accept $25 for the 'privilege' of filing my state return electronically. Again, no support at the stated times. Here is the question, what happens to UPDATES that come in after people file their taxes?? Over the next year I will be looking for a different tax preparer solution. It will NOT be TurboTax.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Glitchy this year Not sure why it was hard, but even though I am supposed to be allowed to install to 5 computers I had issues each time. I just did one to a laptop and the other to my home desktop. The desktop never ran correctly - would not download paid for states - and the laptop seemed to have to reactivate regularly. Driving me to look for a new tax program next year.

I was using a PC in a different geographic location than the PC where I initially loaded it from CD (5 PCs permitted). Therefore, I did not have my authentication code with me. The Turbotax support help line stated that they would not give me a new authentication code and did not apparently have a way to validate me online. I was almost done with my taxes, so had to purchase a second CD. I find this out of touch with today's mobile environment and totally unsatisfactory. I've been a user of Quicken, Quickbooks, and Turbotax since they came out several decades ago and I am now looking at the competition as a result of this.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not as good as using the cd I don't like that throughout the process I am asked to buy/upgrade to additional software or buy subscriptions that I do not want. The program seems like a big commercial for their other products. Question features are almost useless for non-standard questions and you need to go through too much info to find the answers you need. No way to speak with a live person. Don't like that I can only do one set of taxes per email address. I did my son's taxes using my normal email account. I then went to do my own taxes and when I entered my email, it automatically brought up my sons return info. I had to use an old email I do not use to do my own return.
