Rated 5 out of 5 by from Turbo Tax went well Had a bad experience with H&R Block Online Tax that I couldn't get resolved. Have been with H&R Block for 10 or more years. Made the switch to TurboTax and was happy with the results!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Turbo Tax disappoints...again Turbo Tax cost me many many frustrating hours this year. I bought Turbo Tax Deluxe on Amazon and downloaded to my new Lenovo Yoga PC. Apparently something was not compatible and I couldn't get it to activate. Also, couldn't get it to go to the screen where I purchase an additional state. After hours of searching for an answer, I changed the screen resolution and was finally able to get it to work. extremely frustrating that you pay this much money for a product and it doesn't work with the new PC's. Also, I always have trouble getting the NC and SC state returns to interact and calculate properly. Last year it was screwed up so bad by Turbo TAx that I actually had to file an amended return for both after getting letters back from NC and SC that they were both wrong. Turbo Tax should be able to do this. especially when you pay a fortune of $48 just for the additional state, and then $25 to efile each state, they should all work properly and interact properly.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from State Taxes. Disappointing I used TurboTax Business to file 3 trust returns. I paid extra for the Illinois State Return. What a joke! Turbotax does transfer my information, but when you go to review your return it pops up a bunch of items, shows you where they are on the state return, and expects you to know what to do with zero explanation. For the Federal Returns TT asks you questions to gather the necessary information. But there is nothing like that for the state return. TT just takes your money, and then leaves you to figure out what you're supposed to do. I would have been better off just going to the State website and figuring it out on my own. As best as I can tell, all TT did for me was to autofill some basic fields. Definitely regret paying them a state fee, as it was a total waste of money.

For years, we used another tax preparation service bc of convenience, but last year the tax professional seemed ill prepared and it was evident in the result of our returns. This year, we decided to take matters into our own hands with Turbo Tax and it was a pleasant experience (I was expecting a migraine). Whenever I had a question or was stumped, I was able to contact a tax expert in under 5min and had an answer and full understanding. I will definitely use TurboTax next year!
